Thursday night (April 21): Chicago Samba. The show starts at 9:30pm.
Prior to Samba on Thursday night, there will be a Gallery Reception for Nicholas Karasievich. The reception is from 6 to 8:30pm and is free.
Friday night (April 22) is a night of jazz/nu soul on our stage. Alison Crockett and Paul Randolph will perform. The show starts at 10pm.
Saturday night (April 23), beginning at 10:30pm, local favorite Mitote will perform. The headliner is Son de Madera.
Sunday night (April 24), Nicole Mitchell -- The Many Moods of Me. The evening begins at 8pm with a listening party . . . and then on with the show!
Monday, night (April 25), the lovely Yoko Noge and the Jazz Me Blues Band are at HotHouse. They play at 8:30pm.
Quadraphonics is here on Tuesday night (April 26). The hip hop begins at 9:30pm.
Wednesday's festivities begin with a Jazz Links Jazz Session at 5pm. The jam session is free.
After Jazz Links, Wednesday night (April 27) continues with another installation of HotHouse's Jazz Without Borders series: Pedro Villagra (formerly the vocalist and sax player for Inti Illimani) plays on our stage beginning at 8:30pm.
And, Friday, April 29: Las Guitarras de Espana are back for a great night at HotHouse. The show starts at 9pm.

On seminal recordings by King Britt, Blue Six, Us3, Landslide, John Wicks, Mathematics and a whole host of others, Alison's voice has provided the velvety, sensual sound of tomorrow's yesterday's...a captivating tone which evokes both the music of the past and that yet to come...dripping soul with generous helpings of jazz and blues - - King Britt nicknamed her "Diva Blue" - - Alison has taken her cues from divas of the present and past such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Donna Summer, Diana Ross and Sarah Vaughn and so too has forged a uniquely personal and singular musical vision...

Paul Randolph is an emerging Detroit musician, singer and songwriter who began studying music at the age of 6 while living in Sao Paulo Brazil. Since then Randolph has honed his talents in an eclectic range of music genres; Latin, Brazilian, Jazz, Jazz-fusion, Rock, Folk, Funk, Blues, R&B, Soul, Reggae, as well as House and Techno.
Through the years he has shared the stage with a host of host of popular artist including P-Funk, War, Roy Ayers, Roy Hargrove, Hugh Masekela, Buddy Guy, Ben Harper, Rapheal Sadiq, and Odetta to name a few.
Randolph has also been a strong supporter of the Detroit underground electronic music scene since it's conception. He has written, performed, and recorded with Mad Mike Banks of Underground Resistance, 430 West, Carl Craig "Innerzone Orchestra" ("People Make the World go Round", "Galaxy", "Blackula"), Kevin Saunderson and most recently Kirk Degiorgio. Randolph first solo CD "This Is What It Is" was released in October on Kenny Dixon Jr.'s Mahogani Music label.
Randolph is currently on tour playing bass with fellow Detroiter Amp Fiddler. Favorable national and international acclaim has gained Randolph recognition as an innovative and promising young talent.

Son de Madera with Mitote

Founded in 1992 and endowed with an enormous talent for musical arrangement and tradition research, Son de Madera represents the biggest success of the current Son Jarocho movement (an increasingly popular musical and dance genre originating in Verazcruz, Mexico). Son de Madera's main objective is the diffusion of the Son Jarocho based on the incorporation of new sounds into traditional musical forms that enrich the music.
Mitote is an ensemble with rich and varied Latinoamerican musical styles - cumbia, samba, reggae, along with traditional sounds of Mexican and Cuban son. Mitote is fast becoming Chicago`s favorite Latin dance party ensemble.

Las Guitarras de Espana performs "Spanish guitar influenced world music and dance" -- Chicago Public Radio's Steve Edwards recently called their music "innovative and delicious." The ensemble is also influenced by Latin American and Middle Eastern styles and American Jazz. The fusion of these styles backed by Afro-Cuban percussion forms completes the unique combination of sounds and grooves that is Las Guitarras de Espana. The current core line-up features dancer, Wendy Clinard; percussionist, Doug Brush; vocalist, Patricia Ortega-Alonso; bassist, Greg Nergaard; cellist, Kinan Abou-afach; guitarists, Diego Alonso and Andres Castillo; and, guitarist, Carlo Basile. Las Guitarras recently released their third CD world-wide. The title of the album is Un Respiro por El Mundo and, on it they colorfully and creatively continue to examine the roots of "Spanish Guitar" music.
