For Immediate Release August 15, 2005 PILOTDRIFT SETS SAIL ON WATER SPHERE SEPT. 20 TEXARKANA QUINTET IS FIRST SIGNING TO POLYPHONIC SPREE LEADER'S GOOD RECORDS RECORDINGS Texarkana, Texas, quintet PILOTDRIFT will release its debut album, WATER SPHERE, on September 20 via Good Records Recordings. Pilotdrift has won over audiences while supporting artists including The Polyphonic Spree, Eisley and Mike Doughty. Pilotdrift is the first band signed to Good Records, the label owned by The Polyphonic Spree's Tim DeLaughter and Julie Doyle, which has previously only released music by DeLaughter's own projects. WATER SPHERE's nine-song odyssey marks a remarkably ambitious debut from the East Texas band. Already drawing comparisons to Radiohead, Muse and Grandaddy, Pilotdrift's adventurous compositions can swing from anthemic rock to sinister carnival romps to elegant chamber music -- sometimes all within the same track, as with the complex "Jekyll & Hyde Suite." After a packed South By Southwest showcase in March, the Dallas Morning News said Pilotdrift "blended prog rock with vaudevillian sounds... If Queen hired Thom Yorke as its new lead singer instead of Paul Rodgers, it might sound a bit like the 'Drift." The Dallas Music Guide wrote, "Someday, these guys will be scoring movies; sweeping dramas about desolate lands and men on a quest." # # # Tracklist for WATER SPHERE: 1. Caught In My Trap 2.
