It was recently told to me that in order to make money with the Chicago Music Guide, I would need to be a jerk in how I opperate it.
My response to that is I would rather run the Chicago Music Guide for free and be as constructive, positive and helpful as possible than to go around thinking that "I'm the nuts" and stuff like that.
We may not live up to everyones expectations of us, but we'll do our best to help elavate all the gifted talent around us.
So, rest assured, we will not suddenly change our way of operating just to make a few bucks.
If that is what it takes to be in the industry, I want us to become the NEW ERA of music companies that inspires change and brings hope to those who may not have had a chance to be heard.
Any thoughts or comments? I welcome them.
Sincerely,
Dennis M. Kelly Chicago Music Guide

I've seen a couple websites that primarily "feature" local area bands, but it is nothing but negativity. Don't feel bad...I don't think the owners of those sites are raking in big cash either. So just keep doing what you're doing, and have some fun doing it, and let the chips fall where they may. And if that doesn't work, well you can always turn this into a porn site...I'm on board either way!
For better or worse, music lovers are a finicky bunch. A band is either too heavy, not heavy enough, or whatever. I could never understand why somebody couldn't like both Slayer and the Beatles, who are both great, or Disturbed and the Darkness. But musicians are the worse when it comes to bad-mouthing each other. It's really counterproductive. Being a jerk won't get you nearly as far as talent and drive. Rock on!
